Q: When is TWTP and General Orientation?

TWTP Participants will move in on Friday, August 23, 2024 and programming will last through the end of the day on TWTP Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Move-in for first years not attending TWTP will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2024; Brown’s general New Student Orientation will begin with a kick off event after Move-in.

Q: How much of a commitment is TWTP?

TWTP programming begins shortly after move-in and continues through the evening of the last day of the program. TWTP participants can expect to be in various workshops for the full day. Breaks will be provided but TWTP participants are expected to be present and engaged for all session.

Q: Who facilitates TWTP?

TWTP workshops are facilitated by the BCSC MPC Peer Mentors, a cohort of 20 student leaders that are trained to provide mentorship for incoming students. TWTP is also supported by 5 TWTP Leaders who ensure that all programming is running smoothly, there is a space for community care, and that all multimedia is produced at a high quality.

Q: Will TWTP be in-person or virtual? How will it look?

TWTP will be fully in person this year. We can’t wait to see all of you on campus!

Q: Where is the Residential Life Key Office?

A: Grad Center E, 3rd Fl: 42 Charlesfield Street, Providence, RI 02912.

Please keep in mind that one the first day of TWTP your dorm keys will be ready at the TWTP check-in table. No need to go to the ResLife office.

Q: Do I have to reach out to Residential Life Directly if I have already been approved to move in early for TWTP?

A: No. The Office of Residential Life is aware of TWTP participants and, as such, knows which students will be moving in early. They will email you a form to complete to confirm your extended housing and participation in TWTP.

Q: What if I am unable to move in on the intended date?

A: You will be able to pick up your key from the Residential Life Key Office in Grad Center Tower E even if you arrive after the intended TWTP move-in date. A: Yes, click here for a list of hotels and here for transportation

Q: Is there a listing of places to eat or things to do in Providence?

A: Yes, click here! Please keep state and university guidance on the COVID-19 pandemic in mind as you engage in any activities in Providence.

Q: Will my meals be covered? How will I access them?

A: Meals for TWTP participants will be covered from August 25 to August 29 for which you will be able to swipe your ID card at the dining hall. As first years are required to be on a meal plan, regular meal credits and flex points will begin after that.

Q: What are we going to be doing during TWTP?

A: We will have a series of workshops, cohort building activities, and guest events including presentations from our keynote speakers.

Q: Should I register for TWTP if I come late or if i can attend only a few sessions of TWTP?

A: Ideally, you should attend all sessions of TWTP. However, if you are an athlete or registered for IMP, you can be excused from some TWTP sessions. Please inform your Minority Peer Counselor (MPC) regarding your schedule for each day and which sessions of TWTP you will be attending. We would not encourage you to join the sessions after the first day of TWTP. You would not have the full experience, and you may feel uncomfortable joining the group at this late stage.
